10. McGriddles Breakfast Sandwich
This is one of McDonald’s breakfast staples – it’s bacon and egg inside a miniature M-stamped pancake. This is a big hit among people who crave pancakes, but also need a little protein to get them through the morning.
9. Double Cheeseburger
In 2002, McDonald’s played around with the classic burger and added the double cheeseburger to the dollar menu to save McDonald’s from its first quarterly loss. Sales skyrocketed and the double cheeseburger got a little pricier.
8. Premium Salad
McDonald’s may not immediately pop into your head when you think of “healthy” foods, but they upped their salad game in 2003 and started using a premium lettuce blend and got rid of iceberg lettuce altogether.
7. Chicken Nuggets
Burgers and fries might be what McDonald’s was founded on, but the chicken nuggets still hold strong. They were introduced in 1980 and they’ve been a bestseller ever since.
6. Baked Apple Pie
Apples are a big deal for McDonald’s. They have them for both snack and dessert, plus they’re inexpensive and tasty too!
5. Egg McMuffin
The Egg McMuffin revolutionized fast food as the first-ever breakfast item truly offered by a fast-food franchise. In the 1970s, Herb Peterson sought to create an eggs Benedict sandwich for McDonald’s, and the consumers loved it.
4. Happy Meal
Did you know that McDonald’s is actually the world’s largest toy distributor? It wasn’t until 1979 that the franchise began selling the boxed “kid’s meals” we know and love today. Even back then, the Happy Meal boxes contained toys.
3. Snack Wraps
McDonald’s is known for food-on-the-go, and snack wraps were made for that very purpose. If you don’t have the time (or the appetite) for a full meal, the snack wrap is the perfect choice off the McDonald’s menu.
2. Big Mac
You already knew this would be near the top because of it’s special-sauce-loaded, sesame-seed-bun-surrounded burger concoction. Recently, the Big Mac got both a downsize and an up-size as the Grand Big Mac and the Mac Jr. were released.
1. French Fries
It’s probably not surprising at all to see the fries at the top of the list. They’ve been delicious slices of golden goodness for many years and on the menu since the very beginning.
